For the second time in three years, Meredith Kopit Levien, president and chief executive officer of The New York Times Company, has been named Adweek's Publishing Executive of the Year.
The honor is part of Adweek's annual Hot List issue, which celebrates the year's best in publishing, television and technology. The New York Times's flagship podcast The Daily was also named Hottest Podcast.
Levien was named president and CEO of The Company in September 2020.
Previously, she served as the Company's chief operating officer, overseeing all major commercial operations, including subscriptions, advertising, events, and the cross-functional digital product development organization. During her tenure as COO, total digital subscriptions more than tripled to 5 million.
Prior to being named COO in June 2017, she was executive vice president and chief revenue officer, a position she held since April 2015. In that role, Levien was responsible for both the subscription and advertising businesses. She joined The Times Company in August 2013 as head of advertising.
