Communications technology company Telus Corp. said Monday that it has set new greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.
The company said it is committed to reduce its absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 46% by 2030 starting from 2019. It will also work to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions from business travel and workers' commuting by 46% in the same timeframe, it added.
Telus also said it will work to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions "from purchased goods and services, capital goods and use of sold products 75% per million dollars of revenue within the same timeframe."
The company said that last year it reduced its energy consumption 17% and decreased GHG emissions by 37% over 2010 levels.
