Mercury General : Insurance Names the Most Affordable New Trucks to Insure

08/17/2021 EDT

New vehicle shoppers continue to gravitate towards trucks with pickup sales exceeding car sales last spring and the trend shows little sign of slowing down. Mercury Insurance (NYSE: MCY), a leading auto insurer in California and provider of auto insurance in 10 other states, has put together a list of the most affordable new trucks to help consumers find a vehicle that will save them money on insurance.

Mercury's research and development team examined 2021 model year (MY) trucks that are available at car dealerships today to compile this list[1].

'Many drivers are opting for trucks because of the versatility they provide,' said Mercury Insurance Director of Product Management R&D Chong Gao. 'A truck can support your outdoor hobbies on the weekend as well as come with many of the conveniences of luxury vehicles for workday commutes.'

Here is the top-ten list for new 2021 trucks, beginning with the most affordable make and model to insure.

  • Chevrolet Silverado
  • Chevrolet Colorado
  • Ford Ranger
  • Toyota Tundra Crewmax
  • Ford F350 Super Duty
  • Ford F150
  • GMC Sierra
  • Toyota Tacoma
  • Ford F250 Super Duty
  • Dodge 3500
