Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited reported unaudited earnings results for the six months ended 30 June 2018. For the period, the company reported total revenue of HKD 4,021 million compared to HKD 5,069 million a year ago. The increase was mainly attributable to an 86% increase in hardware revenue to HKD 2.17 billion for the first half of 2018 from HKD 1.17 billion for the first half of 2017. This was the result of greater demand for the latest smartphones rolling over from the last quarter of 2017. EBITDA was HKD 690 million compared to HKD 1,309 million a year ago. EBIT was HKD 284 million compared to HKD 494 million a year ago. Total revenue, EBITDA and EBIT of HTHKH were 21%, 47% and 43% lower respectively as compared to the same period last year mainly due to the disposal of the fixed-line telecommunication business in October 2017. Profit attributable to shareholders from continuing mobile operations of HKD 198 million and earnings per share of 4.11 HK cents. Capital expenditure was HKD 282 million compared to HKD 429 million a year ago.
