Deutsche Telekom : The T is green!

03/26/2021 | 03:49am EDT

The T is turning green, the light is going out - Deutsche Telekom will be switching off all of its lights in Germany tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. for Earth Hour to send a message about climate protection. The T on top of our Group Headquarters will also be going green and shining out brightly over the Bonn evening skyline both today and tomorrow.

World premiere: The Logo of the Group headquarters in green.

Each year, people and institutions all across the world respond to conservation organization WWF's appeal and switch off their lights for an hour to send a message about climate protection. As in previous years, Deutsche Telekom will again be taking part in Earth Hour by switching off all highly visible outdoor signage, pylon signs, outdoor lighting, and part of its indoor lighting in 20 locations across Germany.

World premiere: the T is going green!

Deutsche Telekom doesn't only take sustainability seriously when it comes to Earth Hour however, having firmly established the issue as part of its corporate strategy, which is why it has decided to make its own statement today and tomorrow.

In the first ever use of a high-tech display technology in a company logo, the T logo will be lit up in a lush green color on March 26 and 27, 2021 to mark Earth Hour on March 27, before being switched off for an hour at 8:30 p.m.

The magenta Logo is overgrown with green leaf animations.

This attention-grabbing orchestration is made possible by a high-tech display technology which is being used for the very first time as part of a company logo. These visualizations will also be visible throughout the day and will be dimmed to 30 percent of their maximum brightness as it gets darker, guaranteeing energy-efficient and sustainable usage. The logo will later be switched off for an hour by Deutsche Telekom in order to mark Earth Hour.

The goal is to make Deutsche Telekom an even greener company. By setting its own specific, measurable climate targets, Deutsche Telekom is helping meet the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting the increase in average global temperatures to 1.5°C and fulfilling its responsibility for a climate-friendly society. For example, our customers have been surfing on Deutsche Telekom's green internet since the start of 2020 and all across the Group since 2021.

Though we all might miss seeing our beloved magenta T standing in the Bonn skyline, Deutsche Telekom's commitment to the environment is reason enough to let the green T shine proudly just this once, today and tomorrow.
