China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd. added 0.78 million mobile billing subscribers in June, helping to pare the cumulative net loss of its mobile subscribers to 8.95 million for the first half of 2020.
The state-owned telecom operator said Monday that the net addition of 4G subscribers for June was 2.50 million, taking the first-half net gain to 6.98 million.
China Unicom said it faced challenges including market saturation, stiff competition and the coronavirus outbreak in the first half, but added that it controlled customer acquisition costs and addressed unprofitable products and channels to safeguard corporate value.
