China Mobile Ltd.'s net-profit in the first half of the year slipped 0.5%, as weaker margins offset a slight increase in operating revenue.
The telecom operator posted a net profit of 55.77 billion yuan ($8.04 billion) for the first six months of the year, it said Thursday.
Operating revenue inched up 0.1% from a year earlier to CNY389.86 billion, while telecommunications service revenue, the company's largest source of income, rose 1.9% to CNY358.2 billion, the mobile carrier said.
China Mobile said it had 947 million mobile customers at end-June, of which 70.20 million were users of 5G services.
The company's average revenue per user per month fell 3.7% on year, it said.
China Mobile said it expects China's accelerating digital economy and further rollout of 5G services to provide growth potential for the coming years.
