Aetna’s (NYSE: AET)
Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) HMO plan serving the state
of Iowa has been awarded 4.5 stars out of 5 by CMS for the 2019 Star
CMS’ Medicare Star Ratings rank the performance and quality of Medicare
Advantage and Medicare prescription drug plans to help beneficiaries and
their families compare plans.
“Our strong Star Ratings demonstrate our commitment to providing quality
care and value for Medicare beneficiaries across Iowa,” said Frank
D’Antonio, market president of Aetna’s Iowa business. “We are focused on
taking the complexity out of health care by working closely with health
care providers to enhance care coordination and patient satisfaction,
and through the creation of simple, easy-to-use products and benefits.”
Medicare Advantage plans are rated on how well they perform in five
different categories: staying healthy, managing chronic (long-term)
conditions, member experience with the health plan, member complaints
and health plan customer service. Medicare Advantage and Medicare
prescription drug plans are also rated on how well they perform in four
additional categories: drug plan customer service, member complaints,
member experience with drug plan and drug safety.
