United States: Conference Board Index worse than estimates at 0.7%

The consensus counted on 0.8%. The previous publication was 1.2%.

This indicator is a measure of U.S. consumer confidence based on a monthly survey conducted among 5,000 households. The statistic published on the last Tuesday of each month can be a way to anticipate a possible turnaround in consumer spending and thus to define the future growth levels of the U.S. economy. An increase in consumer confidence would lead to higher inflation. The level of this indicator can also impact future decisions of the FED's monetary policy.
