Infection and inoculation both elicit an immune response against Covid-19 that lasts for months and possibly years, a growing body of research shows, but the power of vaccines against known variants make the shots critical to containing the virus, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Variants including the Delta strain that is now dominant in the U.S. can partially evade the immune response from prior infection and vaccination, recent research shows.

Drugmakers Eli Lilly and Incyte Corp. said that the US Food and Drug Administration will not meet the deadline to approve baricitinib for the use in the treatment of adults with moderate to severe atopic dermatitis.
