Financier, publisher and businessman, Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière is the founder and CEO of Fimalac, an international company of financial services which holds Fitch Ratings, the third rating agency in the world and Algorithmics, a company specializing in the management of financial risk.
Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière studied economics in Paris, at Ecole Nationale d'Administration. But Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière chose to work in private service instead of working in public service. He joined the Bank of Suez, where he held various management positions until 1976. Then he joined L'Oreal, where he became Vice President and Chief Executive Officer (1984-1991).
In 1991, Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière created his own financial group Financial's Marc de Lacharrière (FIMALAC). Very active, he took stakes in the most dynamic companies of the moment as Casino, Flo, AGF, Canal + or Renault. Now traded at 2.7 billion euros, Fimalac has a capital of 151 million euros.
In parallel with businesses, Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière has a passion for journalism and publishing. At 19 years old, he created the newspaper Mademoiselle, now owned by Philipacchi group. Even if he has invested, in the past, in many titles including the financial press, today he just keeps shares in Le Monde and Valeurs Actuelles. He is also Chairman of Revue des Deux Mondes.
Great patron, Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière is one of the twelve patrons of the Louvre. In 2007, he created his foundation called Culture et Diversité, aimed to the integration of immigrant populations.
Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière was the 71st richest man in France in 2011.
