Medtronic PLC posted higher profit for the fiscal third quarter as sales rose.
For the quarter ended Jan. 24, the medical-device company reported net income of $1.92 billion, or $1.42 a share, compared with $1.27 billion, or 94 cents a share, in the comparable quarter last year. Adjusted earnings were $1.44 a share.
Analysts polled by FactSet were expecting earnings of $1.07 a share, or $1.38 a share on an adjusted basis.
Sales rose to $7.72 billion from $7.55 billion in the prior year. Analysts were looking for $7.81 billion.
