CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) _ U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. (USX) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $10.7 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Chattanooga, Tennessee-based company said it had net income of 20 cents.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 23 cents per share.
The company posted revenue of $431.5 million in the period.
U.S. Xpress Enterprises shares have increased 85% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $9.33, an increase of 79% in the last 12 months.
