New Zealand business confidence eases in July - ANZ survey

07/28/2021 | 09:00pm EDT

WELLINGTON, July 29 (Reuters) - New Zealand business sentiment eased in July but remained at robust levels, while inflation pressures continued to rise, an ANZ Bank survey showed on Thursday.

The survey's headline measure showed a net 3.8% of respondents expected the economy to deteriorate over the year ahead. It compared with a 0.6% pessimism level in the poll in June.

A net 26.3% of respondents expected their own businesses to grow in the next 12 months, down from 31.6% in June.

Inflation expectations at 2.70% are the highest since early 2012 and look likely to go out of the top of the RBNZ's target range of 1-3% for the first time since 2011, ANZ said. (Reporting by Praveen Menon; Editing by Jacqueline Wong)
