0805 GMT - The FTSE 100 edges 0.1%, or 10 points higher to 7136 as gains for financial stocks offset losses for utilities and miners. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, Standard Chartered, Lloyds Banking Group and HSBC all rise, while retailers Marks & Spencer, Ocado and JD Sports Fashion also make gains. At the other end of the spectrum, Mexican silver miner Fresnillo drops 1% as gold and silver prices fall, while Rio Tinto, Glencore, Anglo American and Antofagasta also retreat. 0822 GMT - Grafton Group's first-half results were better than expected, says Citigroup after the building-material supplier reported higher pretax profit, but flagged supply-chain disruption. Citi says operating profit including property profit was GBP158 million compared to the investment bank's estimate of about GBP132m, while pretax profit came in at about GBP149m versus its forecast of some GBP120m. "Outlook comments remain positive, especially across the merchanting operations, supported by strong consumer confidence pointing to a continuation of positive trends in repair, maintenance and improvement and new residential into H2 while retailing is expected to moderate," Citi analysts say.
