Currently, Robert J. Alpern occupies the position of President of Austin Investment Advisors. Dr. Alpern is also on the board of Abbott Laboratories, AbbVie, Inc., Tricida, Inc. and AbbVie Ventures and Professor at Medicine Hat College and Professor at Yale School of Medicine.

Dr. Alpern previously held the position of President at American Society of Nephrology and Dean at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
