Gordon Smith is Executive Head-Technical at Anglo American Platinum Ltd. Dr. Smith is also on the board of Royal Bafokeng Platinum Ltd. and Member of South African National Institute of Rock Engineering.

In his past career Dr. Smith held the position of President of The Southern African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy and Associate Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand.

He received an undergraduate degree, a graduate degree, an MBA and a doctorate from the University of the Witwatersrand.
