Bernard Tapie is a big entrepreneur, a strength which allowed him to get different companies as Teraillon, Testut or Manufrance. But the most famous case was Adidas; the story ends up as media-judicial saga.
In July 1990, Bernard Tapi’s acquires Adidas, an investment of 1.6 billion francs financed by SDBO, a subsidiary of Credit Lyonnais, which takes the opportunity to enter in the capital of Adidas.
In 1992, Adidas enters a loss of 500 million francs. In 1994 the Crédit Lyonnais decides to resell the company for 4.6 billion French francs (701 million) to Robert Louis-Dreyfus, already present in board of directors. Bernard Tapie feels unseat and takes them to court.
This story ended in 2009. Bernard Tapie won 101 million euros of damages.
